MOLLO / MARTIN

BIOGRAPHY

Dario Mollo is an Italian guitar player/producer who stood behind one of Italian Heavy Metal prime movers – Crossbones. During his stint with the band (which lasted one full length album and some songs released on compilations) he developed a musical relationships with producer Kit Woolven (Thin Lizzy, Cradle of Filth and UFO) and keyboardist Don Airey (of Rainbow and Ozzy fame, now with Deep Purple).

Drawing on his previous years of work, his many valuable hours of studio time and his perfected technique, he teamed up with Don Airey and some friends to record the first The Cage album. Almost completed, the album needed a voice and Dario was introduced to ex Black Sabbath singer Tony Martin. Tony Martin wrote lyrics and melodies for the amazing tracks that Dario had already assembled, and thus The Cage was born.

The first album, released independently in 1999, gained a great success among the Hard Rock fans and the critics and Dario started finally to make himself a reputation over the international markets.

In the meanwhile Dario kept working hard on songwriting and production, starting another parallel project called Voodoo Hill with ex Deep Purple bassist/singer Glenn Hughes. Dario also joined forces with the international label Frontiers Records and produced with them two records with Voodoo Hill and another one with Tony Martin in 2002. All these releases met with good success from the critics and fans.

In the more recent years Dario Mollo joined former Rainbow singer Graham Bonnet with Electric Zoo in their European tours and in 2008 released an album with the more alt-rock Italian band Noize Machine, before getting again to work on a new set of Hard Rocking songs for a new record with Tony Martin.

“The Third Cage” is the anticipated new release from Dario Mollo and Tony Martin duo and has been recorded in Dario’s brand new studio, equipped also with a green screen room for video shooting. The songwriting, the sound and the video production of this new project are absolutely stunning and show the great level of songwriting and production skills that Mollo has developed in the past few years. All Hard Rock lovers should simply not miss this record which bravely melts several influences in a cutting edge release.
